2 Medals won on my unit anniversary’s inter company games day.

Champion for Captain’s Ball

Champion for Chain of Command – 500 metre relay race

It’s been a long time since i experience the spirit of competition. Leading my company’s captain ball team to champion and representing my company in the 500 m relay race is awesome.

Trashing HQ company 17 – 0 in one of the captain ball match brings me a sense of joy :P Cos it’s a revenge against them… However, being able to motivate and push my team members on gives me great sense of achievement for the overall competition.

As for chain of command, i’m stressed out in the early stage of the competition. However i overcomed the fear in me and made a good run for that race.
Being the only 3rd sergeant selected to represent my company for the sect comd position brings me lots of pressure. However, the pride and glory is still with me. Before the race, i told myself that no matter  how worn out i am, i MUST come back FIRST to hand over the company flag to the next runner, my Platoon sergeant.
And YES! Indeed, i maintained the lead given from the first runner – Jimson, my man. I came in FIRST among all the 3rd sergeants from other companies.

“The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.”

It was a painful process that i have to go through… Sprinting all the way for 500 metres is not going to be easy especially when u r representing your whole company as a race.
At the last 150 metres, my platoon sergeant, my men and some of my fellow colleagues are cheering all out for me, but i could hardly hear them… At that point of time, I have pushed myself over my limit!!! My legs can hardly strike to speed up more. But in my mind, there’s only one thing – To come back first and maintain the lead!
It’s really MIND OVER BODY – that keeps me going and completed the race with PRIDE…

Mind over body +  Pride = Spirit of Competition
