Happy??? Only if I have $15million

Well.. How much $$ must we have to consider truely wealthy.

Recently, I read a survey regarding wealth issues on the internet, it said that those with at least $15 million feel they can relax and enjoy their wealth and a mere $3 million is not enough  to feel truely wealthy anymore.

A few factors which contributes to this are:

  1. Inflation
  2. Increase in consumer’s spending ability
  3. High levels of monetary liquidity in the economy
  4. …etc

According to a report from private investment bank Barclays, they interviewed clients with assets of $5 million, in addition to their homes. It found that they did not believe ture wealth was reached until they had at least $15 million in liquid assets.

Beyond basic necessity such as fast cars and carribean get-always, they want cooks, butlers, private island holidays and private jet.

The bank says a combination of rising earnings, bonuses and profits from property will lead to one million individuals having $4.5 million by 2016. It adds that 273,000 people now have at least $4.5 million inliquid assets.

This brings us to a common question -> Does $$$ really contributes significantly to people’s happiness?

To me i felt that with great wealth, it gives us more control over how we spend our time which the super rich regard as the ultimate luxury! We can do what ever we like – own time own target.

Isn’t Wealth = Power?  Think about the true definition of “wealth” To me, its the ability to have control over our destiny and to have more leisure time and time with our families.

Financial security gives us a freedom that makes it easier to deal with life’s problems. It gives us a sense of control which is the single most important condition for gaining happiness.

I think this is definitely one significant factor that is driving and motivating each and everyone of us to work hard for our future…

According to the survey, 80% of those with assets worth more than $5 million have cleaners, chefs and butlers. 2/3 emply personal shoppers, property agents and travel consultants. More of them are spending holidays up to $100,000 especially in private islands.

Envy them? Wish to be like one of them?

Many of us may say that we don’t need so much luxuries in our life and we should be contented with what we have as there are alot of less fortunate people in the world that are living happily as well.

But, if we have the ability, why not? We only have 1 lifetime in this world, its either we make or break. We may not have the best things in life, but we can make the best out of what we have!

Recently i learnt something from Adam Khoo’s Philosophies blog, which i find it quite kool.. It pointed out that we should protect ourselves against:

SNIOP: Susceptible to the Negative Influence of Other People

who like to say things like U cannot do it “U cannot do it”, “It’s impossible”, “its not realistic or too difficult”.

Impossible is Nth and Nth is Impossible -> I will challenge myself towards that $15 million!
