Looking into the prospects of “wealth management” and “investment banking”, i am aiming to get into either one of the courses available in SMU.
I wish to take up the Master of science in wealth management in the near future as i am pretty much interested in finance sector as well as financial or investment planning. And of course, the pay is definitely good with the up-coming trend in investment banking.
Admission criteria for SMU is very much different from the other universities as it uses a broad range of criteria including A level or polytechnic results, SAT scores, a panel interview, a reflective essay and applicants’ achievement outside class.
The basic requirements for applicants are:

-.-” I know its not going to be easy with the tough criterias and the intense competition from all other institutes. To prepare myself for the ultimate challenge, i’m going to go the extra mile.
- Continue good grades for final yr (Strive for higher GPA)
- Gain as many CCA pts as i can for this last semester (try my best)
- Read up books on SAT test & on writting reflective essays.
- Do extremely well for 6 months APT
Something that motivated me recently is this particular article on “It pays (quite well) to study at SMU. Its lastest and 3rd batch of graduates kept up the school’s 100% employment rate and riding on the booming economy, average pay for business graduates is up 8% to $2800.
8 of it graduates earn more than $8000 a mth, with one naking $12000. 8 in 10 received job offers before they graduated or within the first month of graduation. 71% received 2 to more than 10 job offers. Of the 353 graduates who responded to the survey, the top earners were employed in investment banking.
These clearly shows that SMU’s graduates are in high demand.
University admission is one of the issue which keeps me pondering alot these days… Am i well prepared to go for this challenge?
